The Summer School ProDemLoc aims at strengthening the multidisciplinary knowledge of young researchers (PhD students, postdocs) from various disciplines working on innovations in democracy by exposing them to diverse methodologies.
Over the past decade, citizen participation in public life has been the focus of initiatives seeking to renew the connection between citizens and decision-making. Examples include the development of citizens' assemblies selected by lot, the multiplication of referendums, and the implementation of participatory budgets, among others. Local democracy is often the preferred setting for experimenting with these new methods due to a more flexible legislative framework. The school, co sponsored by CNRS, aims to expose participants to a variety of questions, methods, and tools drawn from the social sciences, as well as mathematics and computer science. Young researchers will have the opportunity to present their work during poster sessions.
